The MVB was built out of need initially and functioned effectively as a teleprompter and interview device.The filmmakers soon discovered that its benefits were twofold. As well as recording direct to camera footage, the MVB made people feel different. Instead of feeling shy and self conscious, they found it easy to look intently at the interviewee’s face through the glass and as a result, they could focus and be in the moment. This created rapport and trust so they reported that they forgot they were being filmed. They said that the Magic Video Box made them feel grounded and less anxious. Much richer and authentic content was gathered as a result.
The team’s mission is to make speaking directly to the camera comfortable for everyone. While traditionally, only actors and presenters have felt confident doing this, they invented the Magic Video Box to empower anyone to communicate direct to camera effectively. The MVB helps record richer, more engaging interviews and conversations for everyone. Powerful presentations and dialogues are made accessible to all with the MVB.
People who are not used to being filmed respond well to the MVB and it has proven successful with all ages and abilities. Its unique set up makes people feel safe, contained and confident. Encouraging people to talk openly with ease is the MVB’s primary mission.
The MVB team has been closely supporting groups and organisations to gather meaningful, heartfelt content from short vox pops to long in-depth interviews.
They are on hand if online and face to face support is needed. They also offer training workshops on how to get the best out of the MVB.
